Rahul Dravid confident about Tendulkar?s form ? Cricket News Update
Rahul Dravid, the former Indian skipper, is optimistic about Sachin Tendulkar?s batting form and believes that the little-master will make big runs in the remaining two Tests of the series against England as he looks to be in good shape.
The batting-maestro is currently under immense criticism, probably for the first time in his illustrious career of 23 years. The great batsman has not scored a Test hundred since the last 18 months and has looked off-colour, managing just 63 runs in the two-match Test series against New Zealand at home earlier this year.
After being dismissed by Graeme Swann in the Ahmedabad Test, having scored merely 13 runs, the 39-year-old cricketer accumulated just 16 runs in the two innings of the second match at Mumbai, looking all at sea against the left-arm spin of Monty Panesar.
Some of the legendary cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have advised the great player to talk to the national selectors and make things clear about his future plans.
Dravid, who himself announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year, feels that Tendulkar is showing signs of good batting form, although the former captain is yet to make an impact in the series.
?I thought he was a little scratchy and looked a little under-prepared against New Zealand. Here, I know it seems strange to say after he's had three failures, but he's actually looking quite good,? said the former top-order batsman.
He further added that the on-going series is an extremely important one for the home team as they have struggled in the five-day format since 2011. Dravid believes that the seasoned players must take the responsibility on their shoulders and thinks that it is a great opportunity for Tendulkar to deliver the goods and silence his critics in style.
?He's played a couple of straight drives, he's played a couple of shots that when I was playing with him, you knew he was playing well if he was playing those shots,? Dravid expressed. ?India need him now more than ever. At 1-1 in a tight series, it's going to be very important for senior players to stand up and who better than Sachin to do that.?
